The art and science of improving a space's interior to create a more aesthetically pleasant and healthful atmosphere for its occupants is known as interior design. An interior designer is a person who organises, studies, plans, and oversees initiatives related to home improvement. The field of interior design encompasses many different aspects, such as research, programming, site inspections, conceptual development, space planning, construction management, and design execution.

Interior design has a long history that dates back to ancient civilizations. The Egyptians accented their rooms with statues and vases, ornamented their residences with animal skins, and employed plain furniture. The emphasis on grandeur and opulence in their residences by the Greeks and Romans also had a big impact on interior design.
